which began at 12:30 p. m.
Proceeds from the event will
benefit the Hempfield Hill
Park fund.

field Woman’s Club saw a
demonstration on flower ar-
ranging by Miss Irene Lu-
pold at their recent meeting
at the Landisville Fire Hall.
Miss Lupold, a charter
member of the Green Acres
Garden Club is well known
as an authority on gardening
and flower arranging.
Mrs. Fred Koser introduc-
ed the speaker. Table decora-
tions were created by Mrs.
William Shiffer.

conference of the Pennsyl-
vania Association for child-
hood Education. Local teach-

club met Wednesday evening
April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the
Mount Joy Legion Home.
Speaker for this meeting
was Chuck Grove, local attor-

On April 22 and 23rd the
Hempfield Singers presented
the musical comedy ‘Around
the World in Eighty Days.”
The operetta, which is based
upon Michael Todd's Acad-
emy Award motion picture
by the same title began at 8
p.m. in Hackman auditorium.
Leading the cast were David
Haag. Jack Myers, Ken Kline
and Susie Smith.

Awards at Annex
Four Donegal Annex stu-
dents will be honored on Fri-
day, May 6, at assembly pro-
gram at which American Le-
gion Awards will be present-
ed.
A boy and a girl from May-
town and a boy and a girl
from Mount Joy will be hon-
ored, selected on the basis of
honor, scholarship, service,
Americanism, leadership,
| courage. They are chosen by
their teachers and by the stu-
dents.
Principal speaker for the
program will be Clarence C.
Newcomer of Lancaster, as-
sistant district attorney.
Others on the program will
be the four winners of the
Legion awards a year ago.
They include: Joseph Wivell,
Terri Gemberling, Kathy
Ney and Stanley Tucker.
