The development, “‘Briar- wood” with water and on-lot sewage, is planned by Sher- man and Walton, Lancaster developers. The supervisors also an- nounced six permits were is- sued last month for six new homes at a cost of $98,000. »* * * The Baccalaureate Service for the graduating class of Hempfield Union high school was held on Sunday, June 6, at 8 p.m. in Hackman audi- torium. The Rev. Harry J. P. Him- melberger, pastor of St. Paul's EUB church, Mount- ville, delivered the sermon. The invocation and scripture was given by the Rev. Harry Mumper, pastor, of the Church of God, Landisville. Music included a saxophone solo, featuring James Kain. The Hempfield Singers pre- sented two choral selections. The organ prelude was play- ed by Judith Divet and pro- cessional and recessional by Nancy Hollinger. # w WH Cheerleaders for the next school term at Hempfield Junior high school have been appointed, as follows: Penny Sheckard, Stephanie Quay, Teddi Fultineer, Joyce Mow- rer, Sue Snavely, Carol God- shalk and Kathy Miller, with Jan Wolf, alternate. * * w Two - Hempfield Junior H. S. students received Ameri- can Legion awards at a re- cent assembly. Sue ‘Sngvely, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jere Snavely, 50 Brandt Blvd, and Vance Getz, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Getz, Frolich Avenue, Mountville. These awards were presented to eighth grade students who possess high qualities of honor, cour- age, scholarship, leadership, service, character, and com- panionship. Miss Snavely received her certificate from Mrs. Robert Overly, Mount Joy Legion Auxiliary Getz received his certificate and plaque from James Beuhler, Jr. Mount Joy American Legion. Cindy Sweigart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sweigart, has been elected president of the Student Council. The Rev.
