Under ‘the Wycliffe Bible
Translators, Miss Hertzler
taught in a shool for mission-
aries’ children for one year,
1963 to 1964 in Quito, Ecua-
dor. In the evening she show-
ed us beautiful colored pic-
tures of Quito, 10,00 feet
high in the Andes Mountains
the surrounding country, and
two tribes of Indians, the
Colorados and the Aucas
who live in the jungles. It
may be recalled that it was
in January 1956 that five
men, Wycliffe missionaries,
were Killed by four men of
the Auca Tribe. Today those
four, plus many more, are
Christians with a rehl testi-
mony, and the Gospel of
t Mark has been given to them
in their own language which
never before had been reduc-
ed to writing. They call the
Bible “God’s Carving.” Miss
Hertzler had the joy of meet-
ing the Auca Christians and
we had the joy of seeing
their bright, happy faces in
the pictures.
