CHOCOLATE STAINS
When a chocolate stain is
in a washable fabric, sponge
or soak the spot in cool wa-
ter, then wash with a synthe-
tic detergent, advises Mrs.
Mae Barton, Penn State ex-
tension clothing specialist. If
a brown stain remains after
washing and rinsing, use a
mild bleach, but first test thé
bleach on the hem or other
inconspicuous place for color-
fastness If a greasy stain re-
mains, use carbon tetrachlor-
ide or other grease solvent.

Stop the Boat - I Gotta Get Off
It seems some summer sea-
side-dwellers had their beach
house remodeled not too
long ago; and included in
their beautiful new kitchen
a beautiful new picture win-
dow with a view of nothing
but the gentle swell of end-
lessly rolling waves. When
they installed themselves for
the season of sun, they
brought along their maid,
who had never spent the
summer at the shore but was
willing to try.
Well, from the very start,
the maid didn’t feel very
well. She would wake up in
the morning in fairly good
fettle, but by the time break-
fast was on the table, she
would be on the sofa with
her hand over her aching
eyes, and her stomach churn-
ing. After awhile, the solicjt-
ous employers called a doc-
tor who examined the patient
and then inspected the prem-
ises. His diagnosis: seasick-
ness. The moving picture of
the waves, taken every mor-
ning on an empty stomach,
was just too much. So now
they have a Venetian blind
to cover the view, and the

maid feels much better.
