The East Hempfield Ex-
change Club met recently and
discussed plans for several
benefits to raise the necessary
funds for club projects.
It was announced the new
pavilion will be dedicated on
June 4 and presented to the
Rohrerstown Fire Company
for community use.

The United = Lutheran
Church Women of Zion Lu-
theran church, Landisville,
will sponsor the annual moth-
er-daughter covered dish din-
ner on May 13 at 6:30 p. m.
in the Landisville fire hall.
All women of the church
are invited. Reservations are
to be made with Mrs. Lorin
Weigard, 105 Stanley avenue,
Landisville or Mrs. Edward
G. Myers, Shenck road. Each
member is to furnish a cov-
ered dish and individual
place settings. and beverage.
The program will include a
child ventriloquist, other en-
tertainment, and music. Priz-
es will be awarded.
Mrs. Fred Koser, chairman
is assisted by Mrs. Brubaker,
Mrs. John T. Herr, Mrs. Wm.
Piper, Mrs. David Snavely,
Mrs. Edw. Myers and Mrs.

U. B. church Sunday, May 10
at 10:30 am.
The Youth Fellowship of

The event was held from
2:30 to 5 p.m. at the home of
Mrs. Hazel Griffeth, 2415
Lititz Pike, Janet Gainer was
general chairman. In the fash-
ion show, club members mpd-
eled clothes they made dur-
ing the school year. Officers
were also installed for the
coming year. -Nancy Herr
was installed as president,
Carol Peifer, vice president,
Janet Gainer, secretary; Mar-
go Henry, treasurer; Joyce
Sensenig, historian; Lynn
Rutt, parliamentarian. Bar-
bara Pgtrosky has been nam-
ed program chairman,

The annual elementary
school Festival was held Fri-
day, May 8 at 7:45 p.m. in
Hackman auditorium. Miss
Zoe Cummings directed a 60-
member string orchestra in
three selections. Mrs. Helen
Breneisen, Mrs. Janet Gem-
berling and Mrs. Marion Loo-
mis directed a 120 member
sixth grade chorus in six
numbers.

the basement of Landisville
Church of God this week for
the rummage sale to be held
May 18 and 19 by the Will-
ing Workers class.

ship Lions Club held a Mo-
thers’ Day Dinner, on Sunday
at the Rohrerstown element-
ary school building.

The final meeting of the
year of the Landisville Par-
ent-Teachers Assoc. was held
Tuesday, May 12, with room
visitation at 7:30 p. m. and
business meeting at 8 p.m.
The invocation was given
by Rev. Menno E. Good, of

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fryberg-
er, Miss Jane Fryberger and
Miss Anna Albright returned
home Monday after spending
several days with the Robert
Lowry family at Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Gerald Zinn and Mrs.
Richard Vogt, Marietta R1
are convalescing at their
home. Both are cafeteria
workers at the Maytown El-
ementary school and were
surgical patients in the hos-
pital at the same time.
Miss Jane Fryberger cele-
brated her birthday anniver-
sary on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Mor-
ris visited their son Robert at
Penn State University Sun-
day.
The annual Alumni Get-To-
gether banquet of Maytown -
East Donegal Alumni Assoc.
will be held May 23 at 6 p.
m. D.S.T. at the Maytown El-
ementary cafeteria. If you
are a member and did not
receive an announcement,
feel free to come. It is diffi-
cult to keep addresses up to

brated her birthday anniver-

ing at the home of Mrs. Ed-
gar Mayers. Mrs. Robert Hay-

The Fair’s the thing!
At New York there is the
World’s Fair and in Mount
Joy there will be a “United
States Fair.” Explanation fol-
lows in two letters:

Dear Mayor Walter,
Miss Brubaker’s fifth grade
of Seiler Elementary school
has decided to have a United
States Fair. If New York can
have a World’s Fair, then we
can have a United States
States Fair and cut the rib-
bon to open it. Our theme is
“Mount Joy, U. S.A” We
would be very grateful if
you would also make a short
speech. It will take place at
1:00, May 21, 1964, at Seiler
Elementary. We have also
gotten many companies to
cooperate by giving us infor-
mation and samples.

BESSIE P. MURPHY
Mrs. Bessie P. Murphy, for-
merly from Mount Joy, died
at Harrisburg Wednesday
morning, May 6.
She was born in the year
1886, the laughter of the late
Christian, and Sadie Eby of
Mount Joy.
Her brother lives at Le-
moyne, Pa. Her funeral was
held at Kneight's funeral
home Friday afternoon. In-
terment was made in the
Henry Eberle cemetery here.

ANNA S. BRUBAKER
Mrs. Anna S. Brubaker,
wife of Levi N. Brubaker, 67,
Manheim R2, died at 9:30 a.
m. Monday, May 11, at the
General hopital.
"Born in Warwick Twp,
she was a daughter of the late
Benjamin and Anna Brubak-
er Stauffer, and was a mem-
ber of Erisman’s Mennonite
Church.
In addition to her husband,
surviving are these sons and
daughters: Vera, wife of J.
Harold Frey, Marietta RD 1;
Glen S. and Raymond S. Bru-
baker, both of Lancaster;
Harold S. Brubaker, Man-
heim R2: and Anna S., wife
of J. Mark Martin, Manheim
R1.
Also surviving are sixteen
grandchildren, five great-
grandchildren and three sis-
ters: Lizzie, wife of Samuel
Hertzler, Lititz; Mattie, wife
of Clarence Seigrist, of East
Petersburg; and Mary, wife
of Clavton Wenger, of Man-
heim R3.
services will be

from the Erisman Mennenite
church and burial will be
made in the nearby cemetery.

Mrs. Ellen Breneman Herr,
57, wife of Russel B. Hefr,
922 W. Main St., died at 1:15
a.m. Monday, May 11 at the
St. Joseph’s hospital, follow-
ing a long illness.
She was bora in Mount
Joy. a daughter of the late
Addison K. and Linnie Roy-
er Breneman.
In addition to her husband,
suryivors include a daughter,
Helen, wife of James Stagg,
Tueson, Arizona; two sons,
Russel B. Jr, Columbia R1;
and Leon R., of Rheems;
three grandchildren; and two
sisters, Mrs. Catherine Nye,

of Elmer S. Shenberger, 2200
Mill Road.
Funeral services will be
held Thursday morning from
the Heilig funeral home and
burial will be made in the
Henry Eberle cemetery.

held at Hostetters.
Nearly 30 youngsters of all
ages attended.
A modified Hootenanny was
ithe program, including talent
of two different varieties.
Ted Fellenbaum played an
original piano solo, Carelyn
Blantz sang “Over the Rain-
bow” and Janet Horner play-
ed “Sabre Dance.”
The Four Winds - including
Tom Hayden, Tom Long,
| John Hart and Warren Hofl-
man — furnished the “folk
music” portion, presenting
comedy and music of the
current popular variety. The
group has had wide accept-
ance recently. They accomp-
any themselves with guitar
and base fiddle.
The program was arranged
by Vice-President John Hart,
who also served as master of
ceremonies.
