LANDISVILLE-SALUNGA
The second “Night of Mu-
sic’ was held in Hackman
Auditorium of Hempfield Un-
ion High School Saturday,
March 21 at 8 p.m. under the
direction of Mrs. Helen Le-
Page, Miss Zoe Cummings,
and Henry Fox. Besides the
Senior Band, both the 7th
grade chorus and the Inter-
mediate Orchestra performed.

Auxiliary to
General hospital "held a
“spring frolic” at the Conecto-
ga Country Club on Friday,
March 20 for members and
their guests. Table decora-
tions included candleboards
with pastel candles, greens
and fresh flowers. The pro-
gram featured specialty dan-

Maine recently. Mrs, Swift is
the former Karen Graybill,

Lynn Graybill, Landisville.
Swift is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. Elwood W. Swift, of 201
Cornell Avenue.

The Women’s Club of East
Petersburg has selected San-
dra Louise Myers, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L.
Meyers, 1775 Stevens Street,
East Petersburg, as ‘Girl-of-
the-Month.
Miss Myers is a senior at
Hempfield Union high school
where she has been active as
a member of the Student
Council, National Honor So-
ciety, Mathematics Club, Fu-
ture Teachers of America,
and Hempfield Singers.

Three services were held
Sunday, March 22nd at the
Zion Lutheran church, Lan-
disville. Holy Communion
was distributed at the 8:30 a.
m. service, At the 10:45 a.m.
service the following were
confirmed: Albert Bell, Jr.,
Russell Cooper, Linda Eby,
Bonnie Earhart, Dennis
Myers and Ronald Warfel.
A vespers service was held
at 8 p.m. Palms were distri-
buted at all the services.

The Junior classes of the
Salunga Church of the Breth-
ren Church School presented
a play entitled, “The Easter
Trail’, on Palm Sunday, Mar.
22 at 10 a.m. The Music and
Worship Commission spon-
soring the play were: Harold
Kulp, Clyde Balmer, Mrs.
Mary Haldeman, Mrs. Goldie
Groff, Mrs. Bernice Herr,
Mrs. Jean Musser and Mrs.
Jean Zurin.

The Hempfield EUB church
received new members at the
9:15 a.m. Worship service on
Palm Sunday.
Infant Baptism was held at
1:30 p.m. and adult baptism
at 2:30 pm. A prayer period
for the nation was held at
730 pm. The Rev. H. R.
Blouch, pastor officiated at
all the services.

An exhibition basketball
game highlighted parents day
of the Landisville P.T.A. mid-
get basketball program at
Hempfield Junior high school
on Saturday, March 21. Eigh-
ty boys, from grades 3 to 6
participated in the 4-month
program. Tom Meredith di-
rected the program with aid
of the following coaches: Gor-
don Book, Dr. Robert Brack-
bill, Richard Charles, Joseph
Sellers, Barry Sellers, Rich-
ard Lutz, Ted Xoser and
John Reber.

Lancaster General hospital

Cancer Society at a meeting
on Monday, March 23, at 8
p.m. at Zion Lutheran church
in Landisville. Mrs. David
Messersmith was program
chairman. Hostesses included
Mrs. John Keene, Mrs. Rob-
ert Harper, Mrs. William Ad-
ams and Mrs. Florence Googd-
man.

The East Hempfield Jaycee-
ettes conducted an Easter egg
hunt on Wednesday at 1 p.
m., March 25 for the children
of the area, one through five
vears old. The hunt was held
on the grounds of the Landis-
ville Fire Company. An East-
