Parcel Post Rate
Ups April 1
Postmaster Elmer Zerphey
this week has reminded the
patrons of the Mount Joy post
office that on April 1, new
increased domestic parcel
post rates will become effect-
ive.
The increase, averaging a-
bout 13.1 per cent is expect-
ed. to yield about $75.4 mil-
lion annually.
To illustrate the effect of
the new rate here, Zerphey
noted that a six-pound parcel,
which is average for local de-
livery, will cost 37 cents in-
stead of 32 cents.
The higher rates do not af-
fct air parcel post or interna-
tional parcel post.

THE BULLETIN, MOUNT JOY, PA.
Postmaster Zerphey said
he has been advised by Post:
master General John A. Gro-
nouski that the decision of
the ICC will assist the Post
Office Dept. in carrying out
its objective of reducing the
drain on the Federal treas-
ury by $100 million.
The last parcel post .in-
crease was on Feb. 1, 1960
the postmaster pointed out.
