ed national recognition for
record sales during the 1963
Gold Cup Classic autumn
sales campaign. Mr. Engle
was among the top salesmen
in the nation. He won mem-
bership in the Investors Sales
Executive Club as well as in
the Presidents Club for 1963,
both honor groups of nation-
al sales leaders.

served in Zion Lutheran
church, Landisville, at _ the
8:30 a. m. “service Sunday,
Mar. 1. Lenten services will
be held at the church Wed-
nesday at 10 am., 3:45 and 8
p.m.

Ground for the new Zion
Lutheran church at Landis-
ville was broken Sunday,
Mar. 1 at 11:30 a. m. with
each member of the congre-
gation participating in the
ceremony. Among them were
Henry Koser, who helped
break ground for the original
church 50 years ago.
The structure will be built
on the site adjoining the
present church building and
will face on Brandt Blvd.,
The new church will have an
expandable capacity of 224
to 375 persons. Construction
is to begin immediately and
is expected to be completed
in about one year.
The pastor, the Reverend
G. Martin Ruoss, officiated at
the ceremony. J. Richard
Nissley is chairman of the
executive building commii-
tee. Diller Plank is the con-
tractor.

The Lancaster County 4-H
clubs presented a three-act;
play, “The Courtship of Ed-
die’s Father,” Friday and
Saturday, Feb. 28-29 in the
Hempfield high school audi-
torium. Landisville. Leading
roles were taken by Gloria
Hershey, Donald Trimble and
Terry Myers. The play is an
annual effort by the combin-
ed 4-H clubs of the area.

Ivan J. Stehman, of 2817
Marietta Pike Landisville has
been named president of the
Citizens Scholarship Founda-
tion of Lancaster County. He
is chief of the division of
highway safety education in
the State Dept. of Public In-
struction. Stehman is a for-
mer Millersville State Col-
lege professor. The founda-
tion supports 50 college and
university students.

James R. Kauffman and
Barry A. Trostle of the First
National Bank of Landis-
ville were among 36 bankers
of Lancaster County attend-
ing the Bank Operations Clin-
ic of the Penna. Bankers As-
sociation, held in Philadel-
phia.

Miss Mary Ellen Mumma
was the winner at Hempfield
high school for the “Search
for the American Homemak-
er of Tomorrow.” Contest
sponsored by a national food
company. Each girl scored
highest in her school in a
written homemaking examin-
ation given to senior girls

er of Tomorrow this spring.
The state winner will re-
ceive a $1500 scholarship and
will be eligible to compete in
the national contest. The na-
tional winner will have her
winnings increased to $5,000.

The Hempfield Union school
board awarded a $23,100 con-
tract for the construction of
athletic field bleachers to
Snyder Tank Corp., Buffalo,
N. Y., at a recent meeting.
Completion date is Aug. 1,
1964. There will be 2,000
home seats and 1,000 visitors
seats with foundations.

Heath, Wilmington, Del. are
the parents of a son born on
Monday, Feb. 24 in a Wil-
mington hospital. Mrs. Heath
is the former Brenda Lou

The Florin Church of the
Brethren is holding special
Lenten Services Monday eve-
ning. Each week they have a
guest speaker and each Mon-
day they hold a luncheon at
the Mount Joy Restaurant at
which time the guest speaker
says a few words. All people
interested in attending may
do so. Monday’s guest speak-
er was Rev. David Rodgers
of Roanoke, Va.
Mrs. Margaret Bowers is a
patient at the St. Joseph's
hospital in Lancaster.
Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Krei-

The subject for Wednesday
evening Lenten Service will
be “The Power of Disciple-
ship” and Rev. Charles W.
Wolfe will be the speaker.
