ABUNDANT

A father once took his two
sons to the county fair and al-
lowed them to spend some time
on the rides. The little five year
old was afraid of the high flyer.
But after his father took the
ride first, the child's fear was
removed. He eagerly climbed
into the bucket seat and waved
with confidence as he whizzed
by.
"Life is not without fears, but
these fears are removed from
the child of God when he re-
members that Jesus of Nazareth
has gone before and met every
test of life. The writer of He-
brews tells us that Jesus shared
fully in all human experiences,
including the things which
cause fear. By virtue of being
subjected to those things which
induce fear, He is able to help
and comfort those who are like-
wise exposed to them,
Just as the little boy was re-
assured by his father’s action,
we are reassured by being in
close contact with Jesus and by
following His example. He has
such absolute mastery over cir-
cumstances that just to know
Him intimately is to face life
unafraid.
One evening I saw a mocking-
bird perched in a pine tree near
my window. He was singing a
loud, joyful song even though

REMEDY FOR FEAR
LIFE

ready the limb on which he sat
was being lashed furiously by
the w ind, But, completely un-
concerned and unafraid, the
little bird sang on.
The little bird was calm and
unconcerned because he knew
his wings were strong and that,
even though the storm raged
and and the bough on which
he sat swayed dangerously with
each new gust of wind, his
wings could bear him safely
away from the danger and into
a place of peace.
Storms oftentimes come into
our lives. Some storms are mild
while others are nightmares. But
the severity of the storm makes
no difference. Our God is all-
powerful. He is our Great Pro-
tector. Nothing can harm us
when we hide in the shelter of
His almighty wings. Like the
bird, you can remain calm de-
spite the circumstances sur-
rounding vou. Use your spiritual
power of faith and trust in God
to safely carry you through each
storm.
Fear is like a cold, clammy
fog over your life. As in any fog,
your way is uncertain, your path
is dangerous. But your faith, or
trust, is God’s gift of sunlight
that drives the fog away. This
is the simplest and surest of all
remedies for fear. Fear cannot
