It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civiliza- tion can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should at- tend services regularly and support the Church. They are: {1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. Two big black bears are going to get me!” she cried. | Her parents rushed into her room to try to calm her, but no amount of comfort and reassur- ance could reach the little girl. She had become thoroughly terrified, and neither dad's strong arms around her nor Mother's soothing words could convince her that two ferocious bears were not about to get her. Her parents were almost at their wits’ end. And still she kept | screaming, “Oh, help me! The bears are about to get me!” But her older brother saved the day. “What's wrong, Sister?” | “The bears. are about to get me,” sobbed his little sister. “Where are they?” “Over in that corner.” Pulling an imaginary revolver from his pajama pocket, the brother ' shouted, “Bang! bang! I got both of them!” The little girl, her fears al-| layed, went back to sleep, feel- | ing just fine! Many people today live in constant fear. Some are afraid of storms with their thunder and lightning. Others are afraid of shadows and darkness. Still others are afraid of illness and of diseases such as cancer and leukemia. Thousands are afraid of failure, I am told that one half of all Rospital beds are filled with people suffering from mental difficulties or from an organic disorder resulting from them. Their fears have dominated them and made them irrational. But the Bible says, “Cod hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). That means that God does not want people to suffer the consequences of fear. In the place of. one negative force— fear—~he has - given us three positive ones: power, love and a sound mind. The next time yox are afraid and the world seems to be clos. ing in around you, remember that fear does not come from God. Believe that God has { given you power to overcome This story sounds ridiculous. | fear, love'to lift vou and a sound “It’s silly,” you might say. But | the point is, whether its cause is real or imagined, fear can be a terrible thing. It.is a brutal, blighting, crippling force that mind to deal with your prob. lems. And if you have trouble going to sleep at night, remem- ber that God stays awake ail night, watching over you, and often ‘leaves its victims marked that His words to you are, “Fear { not, only believe.” LUMBER & MILLWORK FLORIN, PA.
