sewing machine, also measuring and fitting of shoes
She is the mother of two children, Eleanor, 16,
and Donald, 13. She is a native of Brooklyn, N. Y.,
but finds Lancaster Co. the ideal spot to call her
home. Gardening is her hobby and she spends as
much time as possible out of doors.

on grade school work

of Ralph E. Coleman,
Elementary Principal.

ic duties are: prepar-
ing transcripts for
pupils moving ‘o oth-
er schools and those
entering Donegal,
performing miscellan
eous duties for the
teachers, such as du-
plicating work, main-
tenance of cafeleria books and preparation and sub-
mission of necessary state reports in relation to
School Lunch Program, plus the typing of letiers
and correspondence pertaining to general and spe-
cific school administration


Gloria Keener

Gloria has been as-
sociated with her
husband, George, in
the home furnishing
business in Mt. Joy
for the past 9 years.
While her main func-
ions are to handle
the necessary corres-
ondence, bookkeeping
and other office pro-
cedures required for
the successful opera-
tion of a business,
she occasionally as-
sists her husband in
the buying and sell-
ing phases of the bus-
iness also.
The Xeeners are
now in the process of
renovating ‘the huil-
ding at the rear of

umbia Avenue, for use as a display and sales show-
rcom, where they will feature quality bedding, car-
pet, custom-made furniture, and various types of
window shades, and Venetian Blinds.

Mrs. Simeon Horton
has the distinction of
being a pioneer in a
new business enter-
prize for this locality
Through her efforts
one of ‘he first froz-
en food locker plants
in Pennsylvania was
built in Mount Joy by
Consumers, Lancast-
er, Pa.
Mrs. Horton has
been manager of the
plant from the date
of opening in Decem-
ber, 1939. It was her
privilege to help peo-
ple in this new meth-
od of preserving food.
In 1945 she pur-
chased this business
and made the plant
larger to better serve a 1
the public. Service consists of renting the 598 indi-
vidual lockers, carrying a complete line of freezing
supplies and selling ice cream and frozen foods.

elementary school

Mount Joy Grade
School. This organiz-
ation, believed to be
the first of its kind
in Lancaster Counly,
materialized as a re-
sult of the thinking
and planning of Mrs.
Ethel Broske. Ability
to transmi. to the
pupils her intense
interest and enjoy-
ment in music has
been an asset.
The Band partici-
pa.ec in several local
and County affairs,

and also piays a concert in the Spring. In addition
to the Band, Mrs. Broske teaches music in kinder-
garten through grade six. This ‘alent presents a
Christmas program and an operetta in the Spring.
To complete the daily teaching schedule Mrs.
Broske arithmetic in grade six.

year as proof clerk
and teller. Her duties
as a proof machine
operator require a
thorough knowledge
of ‘he principles of
banking, since all the
daily operations of
the banking day are
channeled to her for
proof. As a teller,
Betty exercises her
knowledge of bank-
ing in tha! she must
be able to satisfy the
desires of all custom-
ers. Her understanding of these principles of bank-

Foundation. which provides funds for Sico Scholar-
ships. The Sico Foundation is a corporation of trust,
