MESSAGE FROM
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
The White House, Washington, D.C.
MISS HAZEL PALMER, President
National Federation of Business & Professional Women's
Clubs Inc.
Please give my greetings to the members of the Na-
tional Federation of Business and Professional Women's
Clubs joined in the annual observance of National
Business Women's Week.
“Salute to Women Who Work” is a theme which
commands the respect and appreciation of the Nat'on.
In the last generation, the number of working women
has mare than doubled and they make an e-sential con-
tribution to the business and professional life of our
whole economy.
Your new office building is a symbol of your grow-
ing strength. Congratulations and best wishes as you
prepare to enter into its use.
DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER

U.S. CHAMBER PRESIDENT ASSERTS
SALES COUNTER EMANCIPATED WOMEN
Fhilip M. Talbott, president of The Chamber of Commerce
of the United States, says:
“When I was asked to write something for the very worth-
while occasion of NATIONAL BUSINESS WOMEN’S WEEK, it
suddenly occurred to me that the success of women in business
and industry is no longer news.
“Simply to say that ‘Miss or Mrs. Smith or Jones’ has been
promoted to an important position, while trying to make the
point that this is remarkable because of the incumbent's sex, is
almost absurd in these t(imes. . . .
“Not long ago, the New York Stock Exchange reported that
more than one-half of all stockholders are women—and the lar-
ger percentage held preferred stock. It may be, that in the
long run we men will find we have been working for the ladies
all along. I'm confident that this will not really come as news
either. In brief, we have reached the point where it is possible
and entirely natural for both men and women to accep: women
as executives, and as successful participants in our whole na-
tional economy. For this, the National Federation of Business
and Professional Women’s Clubs deserves much credit.
“Myself, and the Chamber of Commerce of the United
States, are happy to congraiulate the Federation, and to wish
every success for this year’s observance of NATIONAL BUSI-
NESS WOMEN’S WEEK.”
