BOY HIT BY CAR
EAST OF BORO
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Metzler,
218 Cedar Street, Columbia
was seriously injured Sunday
afternoon when he was report
edly struck by a car east of
town. He was taken to the Lan-|
caster General Hospital in the
Mount Joy ambulance and was
suflering from a possible frac-
tured skull, possible internal
| injuries, abrasions of the
puncture wound of the forehead
| and injury to the left leg.

| groups will join with the Lan-

County Unions of Pennsylvania, |
the Pennsylvania Union, other!
state unions, early 50 National
C. E. Unions, The International
C. E. Union and the World C.
E. Union from Jan. 30 through
Feb. 6, in celebrating the 74th
anniversary of the Founding of!
Christian Endeavor.
Christian Endeavor was foun- |
ded by Dr. and Mrs. Francis E.
Clark when a group of young,
people met in the parsonage - of |
the Williston Congregational
Church, Portland, Maine, Feb. !
2, 1881.
| In the beginning, Feb. 2 was
celebrated as Christian Endeav-
or Day, but the observance was
later extended and in 1914, a
Christian Endeavor Week was
inaugurated.
Since 1944, a united observ-
{; ance of Christian Endeavor
Week and Youth Week has been
held.
This year's celebration
| be marked by many
| C. E. Society programs, some
services, some socials, as well
as a County Wide Rally at the
New Holland E.U.B. Church, on
| Saturday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p. m.
{ The Rev. Daniel L. Shearer
from the E.U.B. Church in Eph-
rata will speak.
Although C. E. Week is from
Jan. 30 taru Feb. 6, B. McClain
Cochden, Field Secretary of the
Penna. C. E. Union, will appear
with two young ps ople on Chan-
el 8, TV on the ‘Today With
Kay" program at 2:45 p.m. Jan.
29th.
