Let us approach this Thanksgiving Day in the spir-
it of the Pilgrim Fathers. Let us enjoy the feast, the qao-
thering of family and friends. But, let us be mindful of
the true purpose and inspiration of the occasion; grate-
fully to give thanks to God for the blessings we have re-
ceived.
Each of us will find his own personal blessings for
which to be thankful. But all of us share in those para-
mount blessings that come to us as Americans. A free
people, we walk in dignity and sleep without fear. We
are free to worship, each in his own way. We are free
to know the truth and speak our minds about it. We
are free to choose our own work free to create,
achieve each to the utmost of his ability, un-
thwarted by the shackles of regimentation.
These freedoms are the strength of America. The
priceless blessings enjoyed by every American. For
them on this Thanksgiving Day, let us give thanks to
Him from Whom all blessings flow and pray that these
lessings may come to all freedom-loving peoples of
the world.
