County contests are now un-
derway to determine county
champions according to infor-
mation received by the State
Department of Agriculture. En-
tries in the state-wide contest
are limited to county contest
winners and each must be a
farm operator or farm employ-
ee.
Not only must plow champ-
ionship contestants be able to
plow a straight furrow, but they
will be judged on the opening
of the furrow, treatment of the

Two mold board winners will
emerge from the Bedford coun-
ty contest. One will be chosen
in level land plowing competi-
tion and the other in contour
plowing. Both will be certified
for entry in the National Plow-
ing Match to be held in Illinois
in September. The Pennsylvan-
ia competition also includes
disc plows in both level land
and contour plowing, but there
is no national competition in
these classes.
