Women Of Lutheran |
Church Held Picnic
The women of Trinity Luth-
eran Church and Sunday School
and members of the women's
organizations of the church uni-
ted in a picnic meeting at the |
church on Tuesday evening,
July 13th,
Following a covered dish pic-
nic Mrs. Elizabeth Heilig Wood-
ward, just recently returned
form a two-year stay in Moroc-
co, where her husband served
with the U. S. Armed Forces,
addressed the group informally.
Mrs. Woodward described the
people they had met, the coun-
try and some of its problems,
the school in which she taught,
the family's travels in Europe
and also had some souvenirs to
show.
The second part of the even-
ing's entertainment was a pro-
gram, “Heirs to the Kingdom —
The Christian Family,” Partici- |
pants included Mrs. Ervin Wea- |
ver, Mrs. Bernard King, Mrs. |
Clyde Wivell, Mrs. Harold |
Brown, Mrs. Ralph Oberholtzer, |
Miss Elsie Lefever, Mrs. Edna
Bortzfield, Mrs. Pauline Heilig,
Mrs. Robert Hawthorne, Mrs. |
William Hopple, and Mrs. W. L.
Koder. Mrs. Clyde Nissly and
Mrs. Richard Divet sang a duet, |
using the theme hymn of the |
evening. The group then joined
in singing the hymn, “O Holy
Lord, Content to Fill”, accom-
panied by Miss Beulah Smith.

The president of the women’s
organizations were introduced
to the group, and each of the
65 women in attendance rose |
and introduced herself. Words
of greeting were spoken by Mrs.
Clyde Eshelman, president of
the Women's Missionary Socie-
ident of the Ladies’ Bible Class;
ty; Mrs. Raymond Gilbert, pres-
Mrs. Geo. Brown, III, president
of the Young Ladies’ Bible]
Class; and Mrs. Paul Anderson,
president of the Ladies’ Aid So-
ciety. Mrs. Harriet Brown pre-
sented a gift from the Ladies’
Bible Class to the president of
the class, Mrs. Raymond Gilbert
in honor of her birthday and in
recognition of the service she
had given to the class and to
the church. As Mrs. Gilbert op-
ened her gift—a lovely hand |
bag, gloves, and hose, the group
sang ‘Happy Birthday.”
It was decided that the La-
dies’ Bible Class would hold its |
annual corn roast in September |
this year, and its August meet- |
ing the first Monday of August.
The meeting of the Women’s |
Missionary Society will also be |
changed and announcement of |
the time of meeting will be
made later. This was done so |
that full cooperation could be
given to the Vacation Church |
School which will be held Aug-
ust 9 - 20, in the evenings.
