The Physician On Call
Sunday
' Dr. David E. Schlosser
FIFTY-THIRD YEAR, NO. 30
Mrs. Helms
Honored At |
Christmas Party
A Christmas party was held
Wednesday evening, December |
16, 1953, at Hostetter’'s Banquet
Hall by the office personnel of
Henry G. Carpenter, Inc., and
was a double celebration. Mrs.
Gertrude P. Helms, secretary of
Henry GG. Carpenter, Inc., be-
came associated with the organ-
ization twenty-five years ago,
December 16.
A sterling silver tray appro-
priately engraved was present-
ed to Mrs. Helms by her associ-*
ates and a number of other to-
kens of appreciation were pre-
senter to her. There were ex-
pressions of recollections of the
twenty-five years and testimon-
ials paid to Mrs. Helms.
Following a dinner a unique
entertainment was arranged.
The talent was almost exclus-
ively from the associates of the
Carpenter Office and, with the
stage settings, compared favor-
ably with professional enter-
tainment.
There were eighty-nine per-
sons in attendance not including
Santa Claus who did make a
very casual appearance.

Cites Christianity
As Hope of World
Conviction that Christianity
has the answers for the world’s
problems was expressed in the,
Christmas message of the Rev.
Paul Emenheiser, pastor of St.
| Luke's Episcopal church, yes-
terday noon at Mount Joy Ro- |
tary Club’s meeting.
The Rev. Mr. Emenheiser cit- |
ed authorities from all walks of |
life who are sounding warnings
that civilization is headed for |
self destruction. He pointed to
a spiritual awakening as the on-
ly means for stopping man-
kind's rush toward chaos.
The speaker declared that na-
tural man centers his life
around himself. Only when man
replaces self with God will he
find the solution to the world’s
ills, it was pointed out.
Reminding his audience that
emphasis has been increasingly
placed upon the quest for if
terial security and that less and
less material security has been
obtained, the Rev. Mr. Emen
heiser pointed to a God-center-
ed life as the answer to all of
man’s needs and problems.
He urged that Christians face
the reality of the world’s ills
with a determination to foster
the tenants of living as laid
down by Christ and exemplified
by Him.
