Don’t Shave
When Driving
driving?

“Shaving “Fhe
Sounds preposterous; is prepos-
I terous,” says Keystone Auto-
calling attention
to a lethal fad just making its
appearance on traffic-jammed
highways.
A midget electric shaver de-
signed to be plugged into the
cigarette lighters on automo-
biles has recently made its ap-
pearance and has been ‘‘jocular-
ly publicized” on television ac-
cording to the Club. ‘Principal
advantage of the gadget, accor-
ding to the TV ‘plugs’, is that a
motorist can sleep longer: and
shave while on the way to
work” said Edward P. Curran,
Safety Director of the Club.
“While it is obvious that the
broadcasters do not intend this
to be taken seriously, it is eq-
ually obvious they have not
taken into account the infinites-
imal I. Q. of many who would
likely be impressed by the nov-
elty of exhibiting their shaving
prowess while scooting along
at 50 M. P. H.
“There are more than enough
normal hazards in modern traf-
fic without this little joker, and
we hope it will not be necessary
to enact legislation against it,
as was the case in the equally
preposterous idea of installing
TV sets in cars, within view of
the driver. Let's shave at home
and devote all our attention to
safe driving on the highways.”
