| If I may, I'd like to tell you a
little about my ship and what I do.
The ship is small and has a crew of
120 men which includes seven offi-
| cers. Being a small ship and crew,
| the duty is real good and the chow
is even better. This is an auxiliary
submarine rescue ship and that is

kist of. We do some salvage
work, We have about 20 divers a-
board that's when they come in. I
hope I don't offend a good buddy of
mine but the ship can also be used
as a tug if any other ship runs a-
shore. No offense Vernice. My job
is Sonar and that is under water
{ scund. Sonar is used to detect sub-
| marines when they are submerged.
About a year ago I went through
[a six months course on Sonar in
| Key West, Fla, During the month
of April I was rated to Sonarman
third-class. I've been here in Nor-
| folk, Va., almost a now and
even though I can't say much for
| this place, I like my ship and Navy
very much.

stitute Carrier positions in the Mt.
Joy Post Office. Persons hired as a
result of this examination will be
given indefinite appointments only
and will not thereby acquire per-
manent civil service status.
The initial ‘basic rate of pay for
substitutes in first- and second-
class post office is $1.61 an hour

the wedding dress of Mrs. Norman
Nissley in 1903. This was a creation

Mrs. Wilbur Hiestand wore her
mother's wedding dress, style of
1912. Janet Hiestand wore a Mar-
tha Washington dress. Mrs. Wilbur
Hiestand wore her own
dress, style of 1934, and was made
of white grorgette crepe. Mrs. Har-
old Myers came dressed in her own
bridal gown of 1948 style. This cre-
ation was made of white chiffon
velvet with a long train and finger
tip veil with a tiara. Susie Williams
acted as her flower girl and carried
an old fashioned nosegay.
