Colonial Mansion
The maple drawing room in Phila-
delphia’s famed Colonial mansion,
Woodford, shows how effectively
green walls can set off the beauty
of fine maple furniture. The panel-
ed dado and the cornice are painted
soft fawn color while upper walls
are finished in a mellow apple
green that blends with the green up-
holstery of the sofa and wing chair.
Draperies are brown and old ivory.
Dipping Paint Brush
Brushes should not be dipped too
deeply into paint—just far ‘enough
so that, after tapping or “wiping”
lightly against the inner side of the
container, they will carry the paint
to the job without dripping. Dipping
too deep not only wastes paint, but
»f soon makes a brush ‘lousy” by
causing a collection of hardened
paint to accumulate at the ‘‘heel”

nearest the ferrule.
