CHEVROLET PRODUCES ITS
500,000th CAR WITH
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
To celebrate Chevrolet's produc-’
tion of its 500,000th car with an au-
tomatic transmission, Newcomer
Motors, Inc, of Mount Joy has set
aside a special period from June 18
to 30 for demonstration of 1951
models equipped with Powerglide.
The local dealership has invited
everyone not acquainted with Pow-
erglide to visit its showroom during
the two-week period to discover |
for himself all the features of this |
automatic transmission. Spepial |
demonstrators will be set aside for
the public's use and an opportunity
to drive a car with Powerglide
will’ be given as many people as
possible.
These “Discovery Drive” demon-
sirations, sponsored by every
Chevrolet dealer in the United
States, will show persons who have

never operated a car with Power-
‘lide what owners have learned in |
more than a billion miles of satis-
factory driving, according to wr. |
C. S. Newcomer. {
Chevrolet turned out its 500,000th |
Powerglide less than 17 months af-
ter it pioneered with an automatic |
transmission in the low-priced au- |
tomotive field. The unit is part of |
a completely automatic “Power |
Team,” which includes a more
powerful engine of 105 horsepower
and an “Economiser” rear axle.
