He knew what was coming, no doubt. John Sliver gave me one for this column, but doggone John, I plumb clean forgot what you had told me. In the spring a young man’s fancy driving may run ‘you right off the highway. Hunce Schatz says the best bay to kill time is to work it to death. My spouse says that a recent bride was explaining at the beauty parlor why only married couples were invited to her wedding. “It’s a very clever idea, don’t you think? Jack says if we invite only married people, the presents will be all profit.” Social tact is the art of making your company feel at home when you wish they were. ———— A woman drove into Newcomer's garage to complain that her was using too much gas. “Banks” Wagner pcinted to the choke lever which protuded frcm the dash- board. “Do ycu know what this is for? he asked. “Ch that,” said the woman airily “I never it so I keep it pulled out to put my hand- bag on.” car use race the Spring air always brings tracks into conversations and other night one of the fellows told us that it was a good many ago that he took his wife races. Upon investigation, Officer Thom- as learned that the deer in question had been struck by lightning that flashed during severe electric storm the evening before. Oddly, each deer fell on its right side. The belt struck each animal on the jaw, then traveled down the front of the deer to make a large hole in the ground, Thomas said. Tardy Duck Loses To Auto On December 15, 1950, Game Pro- tector William G. Matthews picked up a female wood duck killed on a highway near Mt. Pleasant. This was a late-season traveler, evident- ly headed for the Mississippi fly- way. Attached to the woody’s leg was a a band bearing a serial number. U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service re- ported that the duck was banded September 1, 1950, at Stevens Brook in Franklin County, Vermont. Feeders Prove Worth Harold E.
