PROVE FOR YOURSELF
It's not what a hand pump costs. ..but what it costs you to
pump by hand. When you actually figure it out...you 'will*
find hand pumping is a luxury you really can’t afford.
Let's see what hand pumping costs in dollars and wasted
work for a typical farm job...a 14-cow herd, for example:
YOU CARRY . . for watering and cleaning the herd, for the milk
! cooler, and for cleaning up the barn and milkhouse,
1810 pounds of water a day, OR:... 334 TONS A YEAR
YOU WALK... « carrying two 20-pound bucketfuls to the barn for
an average of 45 round trips from the pump and
back, about a mile a day, OR: .... 365 MILES A YEAR
YOU SPEND . .in pumping, walking ana pouring at least 70
minutes a day or 426 hours a year. Whether you
take needed time from other farm chores or hire
hands to do it, it costs you about 70 cents an hour,
OR:...
YOU LOSE .. .inadded income you might have had. For as proved
in agricultural college tests an automatic supply
of water can raise milk production 10 to 209%. That
can easily mean, at $40 a month,.,
On your dairy herd alone, you could have $700 a year toward
a modern electric water system. Just think how quickly you can
have and pay for an automatic electric water system for your
farm and home if you add up all of the costs of hand pumping.
Then, what a real home and farm you could have. Think of the
extra profit from handy, ever-ready water under pressure for
your dairy barn, milkhouse, poultry houses, and hog pens and
truck garden. Think of the protection for your property in case
of fire. Think of the comfort and convenience of running water in
your kitchen and of a complete bathroom like any home in town!
Figure out what hand pumping costs on your farm. Next,
have your local equipment dealer give you an estimate on an
clectric water pumping system. Compare them and you'll
quickly see that old-fashioned hand-pumping is a costly luxury
you can’t afford.
