Our Annual Report for 1949, just published,
is now being mailed to all PP&L stockholders.
One of the highlights of last year, discussed in
the report, is the growing number of company
stockholders and the increasing trend toward
local ownership of the company. More than
two-thirds of our stockholders, as the chart
above shows, now live in Pennsylvania.
Who are
what do they do...what do they look like?
They are small investors for the most part.
About half of our 69,770 stockholders own less
than ‘15 shares cach. Only about one in ten
holds over 100 shares. No stockholder owns
more than 2.3%, of the total shares. A recent
survey of the people owning our common stock
shows that there are as many with incomes under
$4,200 as there are with incomes over that
amount. And nearly half of them are women.
. Our stockholders are people you see on the
these PP&L stockholders...
SHARES

street every day of the week. school teachers,
mechanics, lawyers, housewives, business ex-
ecutives, farmers...company customers. Over
one-third of the employees of PP&L are stocks
holders.
Each time you turn on an electric switch you
share in the benefits of our stockholders’ invest-
ments. It is their savings put to work in our
company that has made today’s fine service’
possible. ..for the millions of dollars we used
to build and expand our facilities were provided
by the investors’ money.
Just as interesting as the highlight racts about
our stockholders is the story of the operation of
our business. If you would like to have one of
the extra copies of our Annual Report, and are
not already receiving one as a stockholder,
please write or call our local office. As long as the
supply lasts, we will gladly send copies to all
who request them.
