In 1948 5033 people needed help-
help from the General-YOUR HELP
More than five thousand men, women and children of Lancaster city and
county passed thru the doors of your General in 1948 to have their wounds
bound and their sick bodies healed free of char ge.
Of the 11,284 patients - your friends and neighbors - admitted and cared for
by your General in 1948, 1792 were charity patients. The Commonwealth
betirs cdpproximately one-third of the cost of this work. The community must
supply the rest. In addition to these admitted charity patients nearly 80%
of the 4051 “out-patients” treated in your General's 18 clinics could pay ncith-
ing toward the cost of their treatment, This work is also a community respon-
sibility.
Consequently, your General needs a minimum of $94,968 to subsidise its
charity work and to replace vital equipment worn out by the heavy usage
demanded by the people of this community in recent yedirs. Not a dollar col-
lected in this annual campaign will be used for anything but these two pur-
poses.
