Farmers Can Enroll
In State Corn Club
Pennsylvania
opportunity to
Farmers in this

which is sponsored by the Pennsyl-
vania Crop
tion and the Extension Service co-
operating,
The purpose of this new club is
to give recognition to corn growers
who produce not less than 75, 100 or
depending upon the county in which
the farm is located. Lancaster Co.
growers will undoubtedly be judged
by the 125 bushel standard. This
project will serve as a demonstra-
tion on proper seed bed prepara-
tion, the use of adapted hybrid va-
rieties, the intelligent use of land,
manures and commercial fertilizers,
sufficient stands of plants, and effi-
cient weed control and cultivation.
Suitable recognition to those who
qualify will be given at the next
Farm Show at Harrisburg by the
Crop Improvement Association.
A few simple rules will govern
the contest should be mentioned.
7. A farmer can make one entry
only. :
2. All contestants must register
with their County Agent Office not
later than August 1st. This can be
done by either calling at the office
in the Lancaster Post Office or by
calling 2-7977 Lancaster.
3. There shall be no less than five
acres of one variety or hybrid at
one location on the farm. If the farm
or the corn fields are laid out in
strips, three strips may be entered
providing the two intervening strips
are grown to close growing crops..
The total contest acreage in this
case must total at least 5 acres.
