same time, as the association is
conscious of its moral ministry to
the community, it also recognizes
the spiritual ministry with which
it is charged. In a time of moral
and economic crisis the spiritual
forces must remain strong. It was
this factor that prompted the
association’ decision, Wherever it
is possible the association will
cooperate, but’ at the same time it
cannot lose sight of its purpose and
mission to God and the communi-
ty.
Times call for a dynamic church
program and the pastorial associ-
ation of your community calls
upon all of you to cooperate with
the church in the same spirit as
the church has declared its
tion to cooperate in the fuel oil
crisis.

to a call, At daybreak, Chief Wag-
ner said the fire was extinguished
but a guard is being maintained.
Many of the firemen suffered
from the freezing weather. John
Myers, a member of the Mt. Joy
Fire Co. was given aid by Dr.
David B. Schlosser, Mount Joy,
when he was overcome by the
cold. Chief Wagner suffered minor
cuts on his hands when he was
hit by a pane. of glass which fell
from the burning building.
Ex-Chief John J. Schroll
of the Mount Joy Fire Co. was
overcome by smoke. He was re-
vived on the scene,
Several firemen directing hose
lines froze to the ladders. They
were assisted to the ground and to
nearby homes where they changed
clothing and returned to help fight
the fire.
The severe eold broke hose
couplings. The chemical engine of
the Florin company was put out
of commission and the pumper of
the Friendship Fire Co. Elizabeth-
town, was disabled for a short
time,
Residents in the vicinity of the
warehouse served hot coffee to the
firemen and opened their homes to

provide warmth for those who
were overcome by the cold.
