Spanish red asphalt tile are being
set,
The tiles are 9 x 9 inches in size
made of asphalt, asbestos fiber,
resin and coloring matter. Com-
mission members say the new
flooring is classified as “resilient” {§
and in addition to making walk-
ing much “easier on the feet” they |
believe there wil] be less dust and
noise.
Nearly one-third of a million
pieces of the tile, each three-six-
teenths of an inch in thickness,
will be required to complete the '
new flooring job, according to rep-
resentatives of Hager Brothers,
Inc, of Lancaster, who received
the contract to improve the main
Farm Show building floor.
It required four weeks for work-
men to get the old concrete floor
in shape to receive its new cover-
ing, they say, All major depres-
sions were filled in and the new
floor will be smooth and level. It
is expected that the job will be
finished by early November, in
plenty of time for the 1948 Farm
Show, January 12 to 16.
A minimum of dust is assured
because the new floor covering is
lightly waxed and polished and
will be maintained in that con-
dition by the Farm Show Com-
mission,
