OWL LAFFS
—BY—
A WISE OWL
Do our fishermen have tuff luck.
If you think they don’t just get a
load of this. Four fellows not far
from here, went to Lewes recently.

FISHER ETCHED NO-
RUN GAME AT N. HOLLAND
Two ne-hit, no-run os were
turned in by hurlers in the county
Junior Legion League Tuesday eve- |’
ning, Sam Fisher tossed a no-hitter
as the locals shut out New Holland,
6-0; and Bob Bruce achieved his|
no-hitter pitching Quarryville to a
5-0 win over Millersville.
Fisher was never in trouble as
he fanned 13 New Hollanders. He
gave up two walks, one in the fourth
and one in the sixth inning. Both
runners died on first as New Hol-
land failed to get a man as far as
second base. The score:

They got up about the middle of
the night, drove down, found the |
ocean too rough to go out and all;
the fish markets closed. They |
came home and met two kids who |
had four catties and a couple good
sized suckers they caught in Big,
Chickies creek.
That sure was a tuff break fel-
lows — but then think of the nice
long ride you had.

We got an excellent idea of just .
how much Elwood Martin is in-
terested in Sportsmen Association
affairs on Monday night. He mis-
laid his pencil, hunted it for some
time and finally found it on his
ear — just where he had put it.
Elwood really has it at heart.
“That was a terrible thunder
and lightning storm last night,”
remarked a downtown woman to
her husband on Sunday morning.
“It was, wasn't it 7 he replied.
“Then why didn't you wake me
up? You know I can’t sleep when
it thunders.

That was the night the streets
ran faster than the streams.
There was quite an argument
at the fire house as to who owned
the smallest radio and sending
station ever made. Milty left ’em
argue and then finally settled
the whole thing. He said it was
“Paul Revere. He broadcast from
one plug.”

A new method of travel was
brought out in a final examination
paper which read: “Abraham Lin-
coln wrote the Gettysburg Address
while traveling from Washington
to Gettysburg on the back of an
envelope.”
An English exam paper read:
“Milton wrote ‘Paradise Lost’;
then his wife died and he wrote
“Paradise Regained.” The student
that wrote that may not have pass-
ed his exam, but I personally think
Milton had something there.
An uptown blonde penned these
lines after her Wednesday night
date—
He tells me he’s so sorry
For all th things he’s done.
Why should he feel sorry?
1 had a lot of fun.

red shirt, a polka-dot tie, a shep-

him and made him pull over to the
side of the road.

Said the cop: “No, I just wanted
to hear you talk.” —— Me, too.

Arabella was a cow
More athletic than mudderly;
She leaped a barbed wire fence
And was destroyed — udderly.

This morning when a downtown
mama told her son to wash his
hands, before he eats his break-
fast, he argued: “Ah, shucks, Ma,
they're clean, I had ’em under the
covers all night.”
Rastus was strolling down the
main street in a southern town
with his wife, when she passed be-
fore a drug store window and,
pointing to a large sign, inquired,
“What am dat Kodak film, Ras-
tus?”
Rastus, who never admitted ig-
norance of anything, airly replied,’
“Oh, dats toilet tissue.” "4.
“Well, Ah believe Ah'Hl fry safne |

a cocktail lounge for one half
price — and the reason is that the
customers are now ordering only
a bottle of been versus a 50 cent

living in local option or dry places

is the State itself, I hasten to say
that a cocktail lounge is just the

the 36th Infantry Division in
Europe played three seasons in
summer stock, returns to the stage
leader
in the leading role in “Room Ser- |:
vice”, riotous comedy which opens
the summer season at the Gretna

Rowe, since leaving the army,
has gained a nation-wide reputa-

His first love, however, is the
theatre and his return to the
boards brings to the Gretna Play-
