DEBTEDNESS OF THE BOROUGH
OF MOUNT JOY IN THE SUM OF
$10,000.00, TO FINANCE
BOROUGH'S SHARE OF A FED-
ERAL W.P.A. PROJECT FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF ALTERA-
TIONS AND ADDITIONS TO THE
BOROUGH HALL;
FOR THE FORM OF BONDS AND
COUPONS, AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION THEREOF BY
CERTAIN BOROUGH OFFICIALS;
LEVYING A TAX SUFFICIENT
TO PAY THE INTEREST AND
STATE TAX THEREUPON, TO-

CETHER WITH THE PRINCIPAL |
THEREOF AT
PROVIDING
MATURITY;
A SINKING
AND
FUND
FOR THE REDEMPTION OF THE.

The Council of the
lows:
Section 1. The
ness of the Borough of Mount Joy,
Lancaster County, Pa, is hereby
increased in the sum of Ten Thous-
and Dollars ($10,000.60), for the
purpose of providing funds for or
toward this Borough's share of the
cost of a Federal Works Progress
Administration project for the con-
struction of alterations and addi-
tions to the Borough Hall.
Section 2. Said


indebtedness
shall bre evidenced by twenty cou- |
pon bonds of the par value of
Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
each, dated the first day of No-
vember, A. D. 1940, and bearing
interest therefrom at the rate of
two and one-fourth (2%%) per
cent. per annum, payable semi-an-
nually on the first day of the
months of May and November of
each year during the life of said
bonds, which shall mature and be
paid in their numerical order at
the rate of Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) on the first day of No-
vember of each and every year
from November 1, 1941 to Novem-
ber 1, 1960, both years inclusive.
Both principal and interest of
said bonds shall be payable with-
out deduction for any taxes, ex-
cept succession or inheritance
taxes, which may be levied or as-
sessed thereon under any present
or future law of the Common-
wealth of Pennsylvania, all of
which taxes the Borough of Mount
Joy hereby assumes and agrees to
pay.
Bonds numbered from 12 to 20,
inclusive, shall, at the option of
this Borough, be subject to re-
demption at par prior to maturity,
either as a whole, or, from time to
time, in part, on November 1, 1951
or any interest-paying date there-
after, upon notice thereof publish-
ed once in one newspaper pub-
lished in the Borough of Mount
Joy, Pa., at least thirty days be-
fore such redemption date/s.
Section 3. The said bonds and’
the coupons thereto ateched shall,
be in such form as shall be pre-
pared by the Borough Solicitors;
and such form, so prepared (as
certified by the Borough officers
hereinafter authorized to execute
said bonds) is hereby approved
and ratified.
Section 4. The President of
Borough Council is hereby direct-
ed to execute said bonds on be-
half of the Borough of Mount Joy,
and the Borough Secretary to affix
thereto the corporate seal of the
Borough of Mount Joy and to at-
test the same; and the Borough
Treasurer is hereby directed to
cause the coupons attached to said
bonds to be signed on behalf of
the Borough of Mount Joy with
his engraved or printed facsimile
signature.
Section 5. There is hereby lev-
ied and assessed upon all property
subject to taxation for borough
purposes within the Borough of
Mount Joy, Pa, an annual tax in
the following amounts (or so much
thereof as may be necessary to
provide for the payment of the
principal of said bonds at maturity,

and the interest and State Tax
thereon meanwhile:

Section 6. There is hereby es-
tablished a Sinking Fund, and into
said Fund there shall be paid all
of the taxes hereinbefore provided
when the same shall have been
duly levied and collected; and said
Sinking Fund shall be applied ex-
clusively to the payment of the
interest and taxes covenanted to
be paid upon the bonds authorized
hereby and to the principal there-
of at maturity, and to no other
purpose whatsoever until the same
shall have been fully paid.
Section 7. The Burgess, Presi-
dent of Council and Borough Sec-
retary, or any of them, are hereby
authorized to file with the Clerk
of the Quarter Sessions Court of
Lancaster Countv, and with the
Department of Internal Affairs, a
proper Financial Statement and a
Statement of Proceedings, as re-
quired by law.

and Mark Wagner, of Florin, died
last Wednesday at the Lebanon
Sanatorium after an illness of sev-
eral years. He was a member of
the Palmyra Church of the Bre-
thren.

Mrs. Lizzie W. Hummer, seventy
‘widow of Samuel Hummer who
died five months ago, died at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob
Eshleman, near the borough, of a
complication of diseases after a
year’s illness. She was a daughter
of the late John and Sarah Engle
Williams and a member of Salem
U. B. church, Manheim. These
children survive: Mrs. Jacob Eshel-
man, at whose home she resided.
and John, of Lancaster, also four
grandchildren, one great grandchild
and two sisters, Mrs. John Herr, of
Manheim, R. D. 1, and Mrs. Jane
Will, of Penryn.
The funeral was held from her
late home Friday afternoon with
further services in the Salem U. B.
church at Manheim Interment in
the Fairview Cemetery.

Mary H. Longenecker
Mary H. Longenecker aged 49
years, died Oct. 16th after a brief
illness, at the home of her Aunt
Alice 'M. Hershey, 151 Dartmouth
Road, Bala-Cynwyd, near Phila-
delphia.
Deceased was asciciated with her
Aunt the past twenty years, in
missionary work at the Gospel Auto
Tabernacle at Bala-Cynwyd, and
was well known here, for her mis-
sion work here years ago.
She was a daughter of Lizzie H.
and the late Jno E. Longenecker
and is survived by her mother, of
Findlay, Ohio; these brothers, Al-
bert, Martin, and Roy of Ohio; J.
Hershey, missionary in Africa; Har-
