The united Thanksgiving Service,
which is an annual celebration in
our community, is to be observed
this year in the Trinity Lutheran
Church.
Usually the service has been on
Thanksgiving Day, but at a recent
meeting of the ministerium, it was
voted to hold the service on Wed-
nesday, November 23, preceeding
Thanksgiving Day, at seven-thirty.
The Rev. Lyle Thomas, of the Mt.
Joy Methodist Episcopal Church
will be the speaker. There will be
a variety of special music.
The public should look for a more
complete program in this paper next
week.

Fat Virginia grass steers of good
quality, have been movingt hrouout
the week at firm prices or 10 to
25 higher than week ago. All
other fat grass steers of lesser
quality, have been moving thruout
and prices in these grades are just
about steady with a week ago. Sev-
eral lots of shortfed local steers
here this week have not met with
much favor from buyers and have
been neglected to some extent, the
trade preferring good grassers to
short-fed locals. Heifers with qual-
ity, selling at steady prices but
plainer grades, also heiferettes, are
moving slow since last Monday at
prices a shade lower. Cows of the
better grades, in only fair demand.
These selling just a little lower for
the week, low-cost cows or those
selling under 5.00 moving at
steady prices. Bulls with quality
are commanding steady prices, plain
to medium grade bulls selling 10 to
25 lower for the week,
Stockers and feeders in moderate
receipts, all grades commanding
firm prices compared with week
ago.
Calves in light supply, demand
slow, all grades selling at steady
prices, compared with Friday's

He wrote his own songs and patter,
and developed both talents until
the fateful day when with Nora
Bayes he sang his most famous |
song in the Ziegfeld Follies. The |
ovation to the song rather than to
the male singer sent him over the |
borderline from acting to song- |
writing. He wrote a London revue, |
whose premier was marked by a
Zeppelin raid. Our composer then
went back to America, trouped with
a vaudeville skit, married his pian-
ist and made a series of short films
in Hollywood in the pre-double fea-
ture days.
The early song hit was picked
up recently by a little orchestra in |
Texas, where Ruth Etting heard it |
and gave it added lustre in later
renditions, and so, after twenty
years the song again became a hit. |
During the years the composer
wrote many other numbers, includ-
ing “Smarty”, “Good Evening Caro-
line”, the lyrics to “Take Me Out
To The Ball Game"—enough to
earn him membership in the Amer-
ican Society of Composers, Authors
and Publishers.
