Stimulate your business by advertis- ing in the Bulletin. Statistics from the electric industry show that it is more heavily taxed than any comparable business. Regulatory measures under which it operates be- come more drastic each year. The re- sult, it would appear, is that the gov- ernment is prompting the utilities to refrain from doing a lot of things which would contribute materially in speed- ing up recovery. Careful management, planning for the future, improving operating con- ditions, and increasing the consump- tion of electricity, have always figured in bringing about rate reductions for the benefit of the consumers. Confront- ed with the rising flood of taxation, the utilities are having a hard time keeping their heads above the financial waters.
