The term “safety glass,” according to
S. Edward Gable, president of the Au-
tomobile Club, is explained in the law
to mean “any glass or transparent pro-
duct, approved by the Department of
Revenue manufactured or fabricated in
such manner as subsequently to pre-
vent shattering and flying of the glass
or transparent product when struck
or broken.”
Mr. Gable said that a law requiring
safety glass in public conveyances, in-
cluding taxicabs, buses, school buses
and others carrying passengers for hire
went into force January 1, 1934, af-
fecting such vehicles manufactured or
assembled after that date.
