Frances Lee Barton says:
NE of my recipe treasures is a
Date Ice Box Pudding. I treas-
ure it for two reasons: First, I
don’t have to light the
oven, or scald milk on
the top of the stove—
which is a consideration
in the summer heat.
Second, it is a grand
dessert which tastes as
: I had spent hours in’
the kitchen—and it takes only a
few minutes to prepare—I make it
right after breakfast, then into the !
refrigerator it goes. That's all. Try
it for yourself.
Date Ice Box Pudding
3 cups bran flakes; 1 cup corn
flakes; 1 cup milk; 1 cup dates, cut
in small pieces: 1 eup marshmal-
lows, cut in small pieces; 1 cup wal-
nuts, finely broken.
Combine bran flakes and corn
flakes, roll until fine; reserve %
cup. To remaining mixture add
milk, dates, marshmallows, and
nuts. Shape into roll about 8 in-
ches long. Sprinkle outside with
reserved 1% cup flakes. Wrap in
waxed paper and let stand in the
refrigerator 5 to 6 hours, or until
firm enough to slice. Serve with
whipped cream. Serves 8.
