Two scores of prominent men
and women of Pennsylvania are
members of the 1933 Christmas
Seal Committee for the State, with

The Department’s survey further
discloses that 43,174 miles, or 89 per
cent of the township roads, are un-
improved, while 4,041 miles or 8 per
cent of the total, are classified as the
stone roads, and the balance of 1,243
miles, or about 3 per cent, are bitu-
minous macadam or higher types.
Lancaster County, with 1,851 miles,
has the largest mileage of second-
class township roads. York county,
with 1,724 miles is next. Following in
order come Bradford, with 1,529 mi.
Berks, 1458; Westmoreland, 1,411;
Crawford, 1,383; Chester 1,350; Som-

erset 1,252; Washington, 1,221; Indi-
ana, 1,141; Armstrong, 1111: Butler
1,094; Fayette, 1,072; Mercer, 1.056;
Bucks, 1034; and Tioga 1012. All of
the other counties have less mileage
the least being in Cameron County
which has only 70 miles. Delaware is
next with 110 miles,
There are 11 townships in the
state that have between 100 and 200
miles of township roads each. One
hundred sixty-two townships have
mileages varying from one to 10
miles. There are two townships with
