§ light, according to the Pennsylvan-
ia and Federal Bureau of Markets,

'] ply and the market weaker. Most

Md 3 pound basket. Celery was steady
with wired bunches bringing 8¢ to
i15¢. Parsnips held steady at 50c
(to 90c per 5-8 basket, while carrots
brought 60c to 90c. Cabbage was
mostly of rather ordinary quality
and Pennsylvania Savoy sold at 85¢
to $1.00 per bushel.
The apple marke! was very
and no sales of Pennsylvania bar-
r2ied apples were reported. Tome,
and Staymen brought 40c¢ to 75c¢
rer 5-8 basket, Yorks 35c to 40c,
and Paragon 40c¢ to 50c.
| MARKET: Fairly active on all
killing classes. Beef steers steady,
receipts light thruout week, good
demand for good and choice handy-
weights, top $9.50, some held con-
siderably higher, bulk of sales $8.50
to $9.50. Bulls and heifers steady,
bulk medium, bulls $6.00-$7.50.
Cows and cutters sharply. lower,
common and medium kinds 50c off,
better grades 25¢ lower. Stockers
and feeders practically at stand-
‘still, no country demand. Calves
steady, top vealers, $15.50.

“BEAU GESTE” SHOULD PROVE
RALLING CALL TO THEAT-
RE LOVERS.
The announcement that Adolph
Zukor and Jesse Lasky are shortly
to present Major Percival C. Wren’s
great mystery melodrama of the
French Foreign Legion “Beau
Geste” coming to the Majestic The-
atre for one week begining Monday
Matine December 27th. should
prove a magic call for the rallying
lovers of real drama in the Theatre.
No photo-play has attracted more
attention or proved more popular in
past history than “Beau Geste”.
“Beau Geste” is now rounding
out its 7th month at the Criterion
Theatre on Broadway in New York
City with no sign of abatement in
the interest. However, due to the
influx of a great many motion pic-
tures of the larger and better type,
and the public ever increasing de-
mand for this kind of entertain-
ment, it was decided to place this
special company on a tour of the
principal cities,
Director Brenon achieved a life
long ambition in being given carte
blanch permission to go ahead and
cast “Beau Geste” as suited his
needs and fancy. To say that he did
it well is to put it mildly as only the
playgoer can better judge after
[seeing the picture. Ronald Colman
was borrowed, thru the courtesy of
Samuel Goldwyn and appears as
Michael “Beau” Geste, while Neil
Hamilton and Ralph Forbes are cast
as the other two brothers Digby and
(John. Alice Joyce as Lady Brandon
[and Mary Brian as Isobel plays the
{important female leads. While oth-
{ers in importance in the supporting
{company are as follows: Noah Ber-
ry as “Sergeant LeJaune,” Norman
| Trevor well known stage actor as
(“Major de Beaujolais,” William
{Powell as “Boldini” and Victor
| McLaglen and Donald Stuart as
| “Hank and Buddy” two Americans
who join the French Foreign Legion
together with the Geste brothers.

CATTLE OWNERS URGED
TO BUY HEALTHY ANIMALS
Cattle owners in Pennsylvania are
urged by the Bureau of Animal In- |}
dustry, State Department of Agri-
culture, to buy healthy cattle when
adding to their herds or replacing
berculosis.
The Bureau recommends that
cattle owners endeavor to breed and
raise more good cattle and where it
is necessary to buy animals it is
urged that purchases be made from
accredited herds or herds that have
passed ati least one tuberculin test.
Failure on the part of owners to
give consideration to the health of
the animals they buy may result in
introducing tuberculosis infection
into clean herds.
It is entirely possible for owner
to purchase safe cattle, the Bureau
points out, for the reason that
throughout the United States there
are more than fifteen million cattle
under offical supervision for tuber-
culosis which is more than 23 per
cent of the total cattle population.
In Pennsylvania there are more
than 40 per cent of the dairy and
breeding cattle that have been test-
ed at least once.
