A Fake Collector
(Contiuned from page 1)
the State Police say, he made it a
ractice to visit farms and small towns
ostensibly to solicit subscriptions, and
by crafty conversation with persons
he met, he induced them to show re-
ceipts of the periodicals coming to
their places, and thus managed to col-
lect on the accounts of such publica-
tions.
In the course of his travels he went
to Lebanon county. The immense
circulation of the Semi-Weekly News
attracted his interest at once, for he
found that it goes to most of the
homes, and he proceeded to make col-
lections right and left. He was en-
abled to work in secrecy for some
time by the offer of a handsome atlas
as an inducement for payment of sub-
scription rates in advance, and thus
swindled many people.
Attempts were made to locate the
fellow for several days, and then the
News enlisted the aid of the State
olice, and on Friday, after following
im all day, State Policeman Zeck and
nyder, of Corporal Taylor's force
pprehended him at Hershey. Just
