THAT'S TOUGH' LUCK, JOHN Maytown Man's Touring Car Wreck- ed an the Columbia Pike Mr. J. H. Keener, the extensive marble dealer of Maytown, met with an accident on the Columbia pike last Friday evening whereby his car was badly damaged. Mr. Keener had been in Rohrers- town on business that afternoon and at seven o'clock that evening started for Columbia. He was accompanied |c by Mr. Levi Hackerty and Mrs. Geo. | Hoover both of Rohrerstown. The machine swerved and ran in-| to the paling fence at the residence of Isaiah Musser, two miles east of Columbia, and was badly damaged. Mrs. Hoover sustained a com-| pound fracture of her left leg and three of her right ribs were fractur- ed, besides sustaining abrasions to her face and body. Hackerty’s right arm is fractured at the shoulder and his left arm is broken above the elbow. Mr. Keener escaped un- injured. Mrs. Hoover and Mr. Hackerty were treated at the Columbia hos- pital. re ee et Snake Drops on Man's Neck Charles Hines had a thrilling ex- perience while picking blackberries at the ore mines Silver Spring. He was picking berries from a bush under a tree, when a good sized cop- perhead snake dropped from the tree and fell on his neck. Reaching back Mr. Hines brushed the snake away and then it fell into his berry bas- ket, after which he lost no time in dispatching the reptile.
