ACCIDENT TO A HORSE

Friday Afternoon
A valuable driving horse belonging
to John C.Idchty, supervisor of West
Hempfield township, badly injured
itself on Friday afternoon while Mr.
Lichty was driving on the road lead-
ing from Silver Spring to Salunga.
At a point in the road
encountered a snow drift about three
It had frozen after the
thaw and the horse's feet became
wedged in the drift. The animal
plunged to free itself and in doing 80
struck the back part of the right
front hoof with the sharp toe of the
hind foot completely tearing off the
heel of the front foot. The injury
bled profusely. The foot was wrap
ped in a blanket after which the
horse was walked four miles to the
owner's home, an hour and a hal?
required to cover the distance.
Mr, Lichty is now treating the in-
jury, but it will be many weeks
fore the horse will be fit to use.
