A Plea ing Lecture
On Monday afternoon
Vialuf gave an illustrated lecture on
he Holy Lands in Mt. Joy Hall for
the benefit of our public schools.
Nearly all the school children were
in attendance, crowding the hall. In
he evening the lecture was repeated
to another good sized audience. Prof.
Maluf was assisted by eight pupils of
our schools. A neat sum was realized
for a worthy cause.
The Lancaster Inquirer Says:
Dr. John J. Newpher of Mt. Joy,!
Dr. J. R. Lehman of Mountville and
Dr. George W. Kinard of Leacock
were al] teachers in Manor at one
time, but that was so many years

OUR
ADVE
TRAIN SERVICE
There Is Talk of the Pennsy Taking |
Off the 9:58 Train Here
Although it would be very unsatis- |
factory to our townspeople, there is |
some talk in railroad circles of the
Pennsylvania Railroad taking of train
No. 64, east, which stops here at 9:58,
Station Agent Mr. John H. Stoll was |
given an inkling to that effect recent: |
|
ly, the company giving as its reasons
that the ‘train is not patronized.
This is undoubtedly true but their
are reasons. In the first place there
'S no good reason why the Pennsy
should not advertise its time table in |
‘ocal papers, thereby enlightening |.
the public as to its schedule ag was '
the case until a few years ago. We |
feel confident there are many people |
that are not familiar with its train
service. Then again this is the worst |
time of the year for good railroad
patronage and we feel certain the |
company will have no reason for re-|
moving this train from its schedule
two months from now.
Shou'd this train be taken off there |
would be too biga gap in the schedule |
from 8:35 to 11:44 A, M. No. 64 is]
{one of the best trains on the road!
'nd persons giong to any eastern
pont can take no better train than
this. Then again only a few minutes
are lost in its stop here and altho a
heavy train, its a cinch to get started
| quickly on account of the down grade.
{ The Pennsy is pleased with its
| recent action in recognizing our town
|as a regu ar stop for No. 69, Altoona
| express, west at 5.43. The monthly
tickets to Lancaster have increased
here considerably and it has been
clearly proven that this was a much
wanted train. The same (at least we
hope so) will prove true of No. 64, if
given a little more time until] the
public ean familiarize itself with our
train service.
Let all who can, assist in
strating to the railrcad officials that
we need and want this particutar
train by their frequent patronage and
we. feel certain our efforts will in re-
turn be appreciated, by having this
v2'» remain on our schedule in the
future.
