Reports from Washington state
"that the 42,000 rural mail carriers
lin the United States cover 1,003,284

include any portion covered twice.
Nearly 30,000 of the carriers use
one-horse vehicles, 7,000 two-horse
vehicles, 400 automobiles, 350 motor-
cycles, 110 horseback and five bi-
cycles. Approximately five million
