was a roaring mass of flames. See-
ing it was impossible to save the

erty. Sparks were carried in all di-
rections and the King barn, which is
close by, was afire at three different
places, but by the hardest kind of
work on the part of the volunteer
firemen the fire was checked.
Mr. King’s loss is total, not only
the hpuse being destroyed, but all
its contents as well. He carried
insurance. The house was
known as the Banner homestead and
it was only owned by Mr. King for
about a month, he having purchased
the property from Daniel Deitz. He
and his wife moved there about 3
weeks ago from near Mountville.
