filled up. The ground gave way and
down went Mr. mule. He was re-
moved from his peculiar position by
means of ropes. The mule was
slightly cut about the legs.

Cutting the Tobacco
Notwithstanding the unfavorable
tobacco weather, the farmers are har-
vesting their tobacco crops. Amos
Shank, on the farm of David M. Eyer
in East Donegal, is busy cuting his
crop. Clayton Farmer, always in
the front ranks in the planting and
harvesting of tobacco, is also busy cut
ting. Few, if any of the farmers,
however will have the pleasure of cut
ting tobacco the size or quality they
do in ordinary years.

No Free Rides
Superintendent McCaleb, of the
Philadelphia Division of the P. R. R.,
has issued an order in which he states
that the practice of trainmen permit-
ting persons to ride on freight en-
gines, cabs or trains must be stopped
at once. No person, whether an em-
ploye or not, will be allowed to ride
without an order or pass, showing
that it is good on freight trains or
engine, and all employes are asked to
do their best to enforce this order.
