During the first week of training, students under- went a rigorough physical training program and re- ceived instruction in the theory of parachuting. The second week they received pratical training by jumping from 34-foot and 250-foot towers. The final week included five staticline para- chute jumps. §§§ Spec. 4 Leslie D. Randler, son of Fanny Randler of Mount Joy, has completed a U.S. Army primary leader- ship course at Fort Comp: bell, Ky. He received training in supervisory skills, leader- ship principles: and small unit training techniques essential to a first-line supervisor in a shop or office environment. Spec. Randler is a cook at Fort Campbell. §§§ drill. §58 Johanna Snyder, daugh- ter of Robert and Margaret Snyder, Columbia RDI, is dancing in the Pennsylvania Ballet production of ‘‘The Nutcracker’’ which opened last Wednesday at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Johanna will be featured in The Dance of the Hoops movement in Act II of the Christmas ballet. The young ballet artist is a student at the Pennsyl- vania Ballet School in Philadelphia, one of just three school’s in the nation affiliated with a professional ballet company. She also participated in the school’s coveted six-week summer program which includes a daily practice session as well as classes in jazz and modern dance. Johanna, a sophomore at St. Joseph Academy in Columbia, studies ballet locally under Irma Millard at Dancer’s Workshop in Lan- caster. She is currently studying at level four at Pennsylvania Ballet School which observes six levels of professionalism. Johanna’s training sche- dule includes her formal academic schooling, local dance instruction, and thrice weekly lessons at the Pennsylvania Ballet School in Philadelphia. This is Johanna’s second consecutive year in the company’s annual perform- ance of ‘‘Nutcracker,”” but she has moved up into the first echelon of its three-cast line-up.
