Roads Brethren in Christ
Church, South Angle Street
and Donegal Springs Road,

Mount Joy Chorus’
Songs of Christmas
The world is filled with
the sounds of Christmas,
and the glow of the Holy
Season will be expressed by
the Mount Joy Community
Chorus as it presents its
annual ‘‘Songs of Christ-
mas’’ concert on Sunday,
December 14, at 3 pm at
Trinity Lutheran Church,
West Main Street, Mount
Joy.
The chorus, a group of 33
voices, is ‘under the direc-
tion of Miss Dorothy E.
Schock. Mrs. Carole Bu-
bacz, Mount Joy, is the
pianist, and Miss Beulah
Smith, organist, will play
‘‘Christmas Fantasy’’ by G.
Rebling for the offertory.
The special program will
be in two parts, with the
first including ‘‘Glory to
God in the Highest’’ by
Pergolesi, ‘‘Now Candle
Was There and No Fire’’ by
Liza Lehmann, ‘“‘Where is
the Star?’’ by McGlohon,
and ‘Lo, How a Rose E’er
Blooming,”” a ‘traditional
piece from Kolner Gesaug-
buch, 1599, arranged by Roy
Zimmerman with Al Bubacz
as guest flautist.
The second part will
feature ‘‘Noel’”’ from Shep-
herds, Rejoice by Wilson,
“*Scenes of Christmas’’ by
Yates arranged by Hastings,
‘Lullaby’ by Beck, and
‘‘Has Anybody Seen Christ-
mas?’’ by Jane Marshall.
The special sound of
Christmas by the chorus will
also include ‘‘The Shep-
herd’s Chorus’’ from Amahl
and the Night Visitors, by
Menotti, with soloists Don-
ald D. Drenner and John F.
Way, Jr., baritones, and
Samuel S. Harnish, bass.
The ‘‘Hallelujah Chorus”
from Handel's The Messiah
will conclude the program.
A free will offering will be
received.
The “Christmas Story”
at Cong. Bible Church
The Christmas story in
pageant and song will be
presented for the 8th year
by the Senior Choir and the
young people of the Congre-
gational Bible Church, Rt.
441, Marietta, on Saturday
evening, December 13, and
Sunday evening, December
14, at 7:30 pm.
The choir will be present-
ing parts of several cantatas
by John Petersen as the
story is acted out in
pantomime. The front of the
church sanctuary will be
transformed into the stable
of Bethlehem where shep-
herds and wise men will
come to worship a ‘‘New
Born Babe’’ in a manger.
Accompaning them will be a
live lamb, dog and pigeons.
The choir sings through-
out the pantomime as the
narrator tells the story of the
“‘promise of a saviour’’ from
Adam and Eve in the
Garden of Eden, the
prophesies of Isaiah, Jesus’
birth in Bethlehem, and the
promise of His ‘‘Second
Coming.”
Each year hundreds have
been inspired by the
pageant presented at the
Congregational Bible
Church. The public is
invited to attend.
