Veterans’ Day program
at Donegal Saturday
Patriotic music, original
drama and special scenic
effects are all part of
Donegal High School’s 11th
Annual Veterans’ Day ob-
servance, to be held on
Saturday, November 8,
1980, at 8:00 pm in the
school’s auditorium. Over
150 members of the high
school band, chorus and
Dramatics Club will pay
tribute to the .men and
women of the Armed
Services in a program
coordinated by the Donegal
Dramatics Club.
The Saturday evening
Veterans’ Day performance
is open to the public free of
charge.
In addition to the Satur-
day evening performance,
an in-school assembly will
be held on Tuesday, No-
vember 11, at which time
Congressman Robert Walk-
er will be present.
Donegal Football
The Donegal football
team assured itself of a
winning season with last
week’s 21-6 defeat of the
Cocalico Eagles at Denver.
Cocalico started stong,
scoring the game’s first
touchdown on a blocked
punt. After that, the Indian
defense stopped the Eagles
like a stone wall, while the
Indian offense rolled
through the Eagles like a
Patton tank hitting a picket
fence.
Running back Rick Funk
led the Indian charge with
91 yards and one touch-
down. Funk is now about 40
yards short of a 1000-yard
season, with one game left
Dr. Predicto leads pack
As we enter the end of
another football season, it
appears that our own Doktor
Predicto has escaped the
sophomore jinx. If you
remember, Predicto had
some trouble at the begin-
ning of this, his second
season. Dr. Predicto really
came through in the second
half of the season, however,
and with just one week of
play prediction left, he is
to play.
Quarterback Daryl Ris-
berg also played impres-
sively, teaming up with
receiver Ron Kennedy for
two touchdowns. And place
kicker Scott Snyder was a
perfect 3 for 3 in his extra
point conversion attempts.
The defense set up one
touchdown when Dwayne
Porter blocked a Cocalico
punt attempt at the Eagle
2S.
The Indians now have
seven wins, three losses,
and one tie for the season.
Their Section 3 record is 4-2.
They are expected to win
next week's game with
Lebanon Catholic, to cap a
season of excellent football.

Junior high soccer team has good season
This year’s Donegal Ju-
nior High soccer team
recorded one of the most
successful seasons in the
school’s thirteen-year soccer
history, compiling eight
wins, five losses and one tie
for the year. Until this year,
there had only been one
other soccer team from the
junior high to finish with a
winning season. The 1975
team posted seven wins,
three losses and three ties
for that year.
The highlight of the 1980
season came during the
team’s last game, when the
Indians battled an unde-
feated Hempfield team, at
Hempfield, to a scoreless
tie. It was certainly an
appropriate way for the
team’s year to end.
While the team’s offense
generated 31 goals in 14
games (2.2 goals per game
average), its defense only
gave up 21 goals (1.5 g.p.g.
average). The defense fin-
ished exceptionally strong,
not allowing a goal in the
last three games. The team
recorded six shut-outs for
the year. :
Below is the schedule for
this past year, and the

and j.v. teams.

Thanks to Richard Schneider,
custodian, all of the classroom doors are painted with
a cartoon character. Below we have a ballet dance [for

Mr. Schneider did all the work free hand. ‘‘They
kids really love it,”’ he told us.
