Brownie Troop #29, Mount Joy, held a Halloween party at its meeting place,
Grandview Elementary Cafeteria, and the girls were surprised with a Mexican
“Pinata” filled with small gifts. The girls hit it with a stick until the covering was
opened and the gifts spilled unto the floor. Members of the troop were in costumes, and
refreshments were served.
Leaders of the Donegal Troop are Spring Teleky and Nancy Kulp. Members of the
troop pose above with their leaders. Members are: Brandi Nelson, Krista F unk, Traci

Veterans’ Day program at Donegal
Patriotic music, original
drama and special scenic
effects are all part of
Donegal High School’s 11th
Annual Veteran’s Day ob-
servance to be held Satur-
day, November 8, 1980, at
8:00 pm in the school’s
auditorium. Over 150 mem-
bers of the high school
band, chorus and Dramatics
Club will pay tribute to the
men and women of the
Armed Services in a pro-
gram coordinated by the
Donegal Dramatics Club.
Members of the audience
will be able to review the life
of Commodore Oliver Haz-
ard Perry in the dramatiza-
tion of a play penned
especially for this year’s
performance by Donegal
junior John Gibble. Cast
members of the work ‘We
Have Met the Enemy and
They are Ours’ include
Jeffrey Way, Maxine Max-
well, Franklin Spence,
Grace Snyder, Scott Mc-
Martin, Rebecca Corrigall
and Robert Nadeau.
In a flashback sequence
entitled ‘‘Profiles in Patriot-
ism,”’ written by junior
student Christopher Hilde-
brandt, the audience will
overhear conversation be-
tween General Edward
Hand, George Ross and the
minister of the Donegal
Presbyterian Church during
the Revolution. Cast mem-
bers of this segment include
John Gibble, Christopher
Hildebrandt and Jeffrey
Way.
A highlight of the pro-
gram, compiled by Philip
Landis, will be a multi-
media presentation entitled
‘‘Lest We Forget,’ a tribute
in words, music and photo-
graphy to the men and
women throughout Amer-
ican history who have
answered their nation’s call
to duty. Historical figures
including Woodrow Wilson,
Abraham Lincoln and Rob-
ert E. Lee will come ‘‘alive’’
at interludes during the
slide presentation. Franklin
Spence, Lynn Jenkins, Ellen
Endslow, Christopher Hild-
ebrandt, Randall Roaten,
Stephen Kless, David Klep-
per and John Gibble
comprise the dramatic cast
for this segment.
Music for the occasion
will be provided by the
Donegal High School Band,
the High School Chorus, and
the Rhythm Singers. Honor
soloist for the ‘““‘God Bless
America’ solo will be senior
Benjamin Synder, and the
monologist for ‘The Amer-
ican’s Creed’ is La Tisha
Barnitz.
Platform guests for the
Veteran’s Day performance
will include members of the
active military, community
veterans, and represent-
atives of local veterans’
organizations. All veterans
in the audience will be
recognized collectively dur-
ing the program, and
certificates of appreciation
will be given to each veteran
in attendance.
The Saturday
Veterans’ Day performance
is open to the public and is
free of charge.
In addition to the Satur-
day evening performance,
an in-school assembly will
be held on Tuesday, Novem-
ber 11, at which time
Congressman Robert Walk-
er will be present.

League
The Marietta Senior Lea-
gue will hold their regular
monthly meeting in the
Community House, on Mon-
day, Nov. 3rd, at 1:30 pm.
The business meeting will
be in charge of the
President, Mrs. Mary Port-
ner.
