Marilyn M. Aldinger has’
been awarded an Elmer L.
Esbenshade Scholarship for
high academic standing at
the Lancaster General Hos-
pital School of Nursing.
She is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph E. Aldinger,
Masonic Homes, Elizabeth-
town, and a graduate of
Elizabethtown Area High
School. The recipients must
be a resident of Lancaster
County, as well as having
high academic standing.
Marilyn is one of six
recipients from the county.

Bradley Brooks, Bain-
bridge, and John Touloumes
of Elizabethtown, are mem-
bers of the cast in ‘“The Man
Who Came to Dinner”
staged by the Elizabethtown
College Campus Theatre.
There will be four perfor-
mances on Oct. 30, 31, and
Nov. 1st. Curtain time will
be 8PM in the college's
Alumni Auditorium, with a
2PM matinee Nov. 1st.

Mrs. Edith W. Baily, who
lives on the outskirts of
Marietta, is offering a
reward for information lead-
ing to the recovery of two
clocks, a grandfather clock
and a green and white
porcelain mantel clock,
which were stolen from her
home recently.
Marine Pfc. John D.
Geltmacher, son of John E.
and Janet L. Geltmacher of
327 Bridge Bilvd., Mount
Joy, Pa., has completed
recruit training at the
Marine Corps Recruit De-
pot, Parris Island, S.C.
During the 11-week train-
ing cycle, he learned the
basics of battlefield survival
and was introduced to the
typical daily routine he will
experience during his enlist-
ment. He gained proficiency
in a variety of military skills,
including first aid, rifle
marksmanship and close
order drill. Teamwork and
self-discipline were empha-
sized throughout the train-
ing cycle.
A 1980 graduate of
Donegal High School, he
joined the Marine Corps in
June 1980.

A 1979 graduate of
Donegal High School, he
joined the Marine Corps in
June 1979.
Eileen Smith, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Penyak,
153 W. Fairview Ave.,
Marietta has been accepted
in the ‘“Image’’ at Blooms-
burg College. The ‘‘Image’’
is a group of 10 girls who
travel and put on shows in
sign language.
Eileen is a junior at
Bloomsburg, majoring in
Speech Pathology. She is
the wife of Sgt. Smith, and
teaches a class. of 35 in sign
language as an extra
activity at college.

Dr. Robert F. Eshleman,
Donegal School District, was
elected first vice president
of the Pennsylvania School
Boards Association. Dr.
Eshleman also received
recognition for participating
hool board inservice
Fifth grade students at Riverview got some sound
training programs by the
Pennsylvania School Boards
Association.
Christine Erb of Mount
Joy, was the speaker for the
Mount Joy Rotary Club. Her
topic was ‘Farming in
Other - Countries” since
Christine has traveled to
foreign countries, lived
among the farmers, and has
seen first hand how farming
is done in other countries.

The Maytown Fire Co.
will have a sub, steak and
bake sale on Saturday,
November 1, beginning at
10 am at the fire house, to
help pay for renovation and
new equipment in the
kitchen. The kitchen work
will be done in late winter or
early spring.

Fifth grade students at
the Riverview Elementary
School, Marietta, learned
about smoking-related
health hazards at a special
assembly last Thursday,
October 23.
Speaking to the group was
Harold Bowers, a represent-
ative of the American
Cancer Society.
Mr. Bowers, who has a
laryngotomy, discussed
smoking and its effects on
the human body.
Also on hand passing out
literature was Ima Dragon, a
large character from the
Cancer Society.
The program culminated
the students’ health unit
concerning smoking. The
students have been examin-
ing health hazards related to
smoking, and have been
evaluating these hazards to
determine how to lead a
healthy, active, productive
life.
The students examined
filmstrips, literature and
transparencies concerning
the respiratory and circu-
latory systems and the
effects of the smoking on
these systems.
