set and tray from the Wilcox firm rate as a fortunate find? | |

A. Unlike their European counterparts, only a few 3»
American silversmiths produced any quantity of Art Deco |
silver. Therefore, existing examples excite collectors. The §
Wilcox Silver Plate Co., of Meriden, Conn., squared, angled
and modernized some of their pieces during the 1920s and
1930s to blend with Art Deco accessories. Most pieces had
plain - surfaces, devoid of applied ornamentation. Some
dinette sets had pieces that fitted into each other on oblong
trays. Many tea sets boasted triangular facets. With

A. Flow Blue fanciers admire and acquire the heavily’
blurred pieces of the mid-19th century. Francis Morley of
Shelton, England, potted the coveted Cashmere design dur-
ing the 1850s. The oriental design printed in cobalt blue dn
a white ironstone base most be held to a light before the
flowing design of trees, flowers, shrubery and animal sub-
jects becomes discernable. The firm's trademark is printed
in a dark cobalt on the underside of the pieces. A collector
would be tickled pink to find your Flow Blue pitcher
