The Maytown-East Don- egal Fire Co. reported a total of four emergency calls for the Month of August. Fire Chief Charles Shaffner reported that the company also responded on five work details and one public service call. Emergency calls includ- ed: one vehicle accident; one gasoline leak; one call for trees and electric lines down; and one reported structure fire. The fire company equip- ment was in service 27 hours with a total of 91 people responding on the calls. Fire company members Curtis Sharpe, Collins Hair, and Don Kissinger were added to the drivers’ list. JCs honor outstanding young men The Mount Joy Jaycees annually honor outstanding individuals in the commun- ity for their contribution to their job or organization and the community. Don is currently second lieutenant and also serves as a Driver/Engineer with the company. The Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer award winner is Gary Gallagher, 147 New Haven Street, Mount Joy. Gary has been with the Mount Joy Police Department since 1974, serving first as a part- time patrolman, then, in January 1978, as a full-time patrolman. The Outstanding Young Person award winner is Robert Stoner, 25 North Barbara Street, Mount Joy. -Rob was the Mount Joy Jaycees’ DSA Winner this year and has since been recognized for his outstand- ing achievements in Jaycees by the United States Jaycees. Rob has been very active in Jaycees for many years and has served on virtually every level in the local - Chapter. Rob is currently on the Mount Joy Borough Council and at- tends St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. The Mount Joy Jaycees thank these individuals for their contributions to the community. Fire company fund drive chairman Bob Hoffines reported that this year’s fund drive is nearing completion. Any resident within the fire company response area who may have missed this year’s drive can still contribute by mailing their donation to the Maytown Fire Co., P.O. Box 68, Maytown, PA 17550. Activities will include films, demonstrations, a poster contest and a slogan contest for grade school children. In addition, the Maytown Fire Co. will have an open house and demonstration of equip- ment on Friday, October 10, from 6 to 9 pm, and Saturday, October 11, from 10 am to 2 pm. All residents and children are welcome to attend. Fire company Game Night will start Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7 pm.
